Myriapod groups with differences in dorsal and ventral segmentation. (A) A male Scutigerella immaculata (Myriapoda: Symphyla). Note the different number of dorsal units (15 tergites) and ventral units (twelve pairs of trunk legs). (B) Specimen of Pauropus huxleyi (Myriapoda: Pauropoda).
